Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons sued for allegedly raping LA woman: $5 million?

Hip-hop entertainment mogul Russell Simmons is being sued for $5 million in federal court for allegedly raping an aspiring filmmaker at his Los Angeles home in 2016.

Jennifer Jarosik, 37, alleges in the complaint that she was “sexually exploited, sexually battered, and raped” by Simmons after she went to his Doheny Drive home in August 2016 to discuss a forthcoming documentary film project.

Simmons denied the allegations in a statement, saying he looks forward to having his day in court “where, unlike the court of public opinion, I will have the ability to make use of fair processes that ensure that justice will be done and that the full truth will be known.”

“I am confident that when all is said and all is done, it will be as clear to others as it is to me that I did not do what this lawsuit accuses me of doing,” he said.

The 10-page lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles, alleges Simmons “pounced” upon Jarosik after she declined his sexual advances “and proceeded to rape her.”

Jarosik, a Los Angeles resident, alleges she was left “sick, sore, lame, disabled and disordered, both internally and externally, and suffered, among other things, numerous internal injuries, severe fright, shock, pain, discomfort and anxiety.”

During the past few months, at least a half-dozen other women have accused Simmons of sexual misconduct.

The 60-year-old co-founder of hip-hop music label Def Jam Recordings called Jarosik’s allegations “horrific … (they) have shocked me to my core,” and said “all of my relations have been consensual.”
