Kim Kardashian’s Kimsaprincess company was sued Monday in Los Angeles for allegedly ripping off the design of a light-up smart phone case.
According to the copyright infringement complaint, filed in Los Angeles federal court, Hooshmand Harooni filed a patent in 2013 for a smart phone case that he alleges is suspiciously similar to Kardashian’s LuMee selfie case.
A Kardashian representative could not immediately be reached for comment.
Harooni said in the complaint that he licensed his invention to a company called Snaplight, which is asking the court to stop the reality star from promoting her LuMee cases, which she claims are ideal for taking selfies.
Snaplight’s selfie case provides “bright, even lighting for capturing photos or video,” a patented technology that Kardashian’s company hijacked, the lawsuit alleges.
