The former girlfriend of the co-creator of “The Simpsons” and his estate have settled the woman’s lawsuit, in which she alleged he promised her $5 million for curtailing her career to be near him as he was dying of cancer in 2015.

Lawyers for Kate Porter filed court papers with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Linfield on May 11 stating that the case was resolved. No terms were divulged.

Sam Simon died of colon cancer at the age of 59 on March 8, 2015. He bequeathed his $100 million estate to various charities which he actively supported during his lifetime.

Porter’s lawsuit alleged she spent so much time at Simon’s side during his battle with cancer that she had to curtail work and eventually lost her job.

“Mr. Simon asked plaintiff to be more available to him, and told her not to worry about replacing her regular employment, as he would financially take care of her,” the suit stated.

Despite Simon’s commitment to leave Porter $5 million, those in charge of his estate opted to shun the promises he made to “those close to him in his dying days,” the suit alleged.

Simon developed the animated sitcom “The Simpsons” with Matt Groening and James L. Brooks in 1989.
