Daniel Fitzgerald filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Manziel and the former Cleveland Browns quarterback’s friend, Bryan Chase. The suit alleges breach of a written contract, intentional misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation and negligence.
A representative for Manziel could not be immediately reached.
The suit states that Manziel and Chase “ravaged plaintiff’s home, throwing all-night parties and causing nearly daily disturbances to the neighborhood.”
They also broke doors and left “immense amounts of dog feces and urine,” the suit alleges.
Fitzgerald says he was contacted by a real estate broker in June about a lease of the home and that he was initially told that Chase would be the tenant. He said he did not find out that Manziel was the actual tenant until July 1, when he showed a video of the property’s condition to Chase and the real estate broker.
In a separate lawsuit, Nicholas Goodman, who previously accused Manziel for allegedly causing significant damage to a home the plaintiff rented to him, recently dropped his complaint. His court papers did not divulge whether a settlement was reached or whether Goodwin was not pursuing the case for other reasons.
Manziel starred for Texas A&M and won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman.
